On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the Practical Nursing day program of Wayne County Schools Career Center was honored with a graduation ceremony. A socially distanced ceremony was conducted utilizing appropriate safety protocol and graduates were able to invite one family member or friend to attend. Other guests were able to watch via Zoom and through a Facebook Live broadcast.
These 34 graduates have not only completed a rigorous program but also made it through a global pandemic and many other personal tragedies along the way. A special tribute was given in honor of a lost classmate, Tami Henry.
Many of these graduates are beginning their career as a Licensed Practical Nurse while others have chosen to continue furthering their education. As an LPN these graduates will be able to work in a variety of settings. During the ceremony, graduates were not only awarded for their achievements but were also able to recognize their family, friends and teachers for helping them along the way. A PowerPoint slideshow was prepared and presented in recognition of each of the students.
Recognized for academic achievements were the following:
Valedictorian – Dustiny Majzer
Salutatorian - Brittney Nicole Alfrey
Graduating with Honors: Brittney Nicole Alfrey, Dustiny Majzer, ElizaBeth Diane Sanders
The next Practical Nursing program for WCSCC is already underway but those who are interested in signing up can join us for an Information Session starting in January, 2021.
