Wayne County’s Ohio Technical Center is Focused on Preparing Adults to Meet the Needs of Business and Industry.

The Wayne County Schools Career Center will host an open house/ice cream social for prospective adult education students on Wednesday July 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. The school, located in Smithville, is inviting anyone interested in developing skills for a new career or a desire to enhance skills for career advancement to attend. The open house will feature building tours and Career Center staff will be available to talk about career options, financial aid, job placement, and more. 

The Career Center currently offers full-time adult education classes in the areas of Administrative Office with concentrations in Accounting, Marketing, Medical, and Human Resources; Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, Law Enforcement, Manufacturing Technologies with concentrations in Industrial Maintenance, Precision Machining, Robotics, and Welding; Medical Assisting, and Practical Nursing. Nurse Aide and Fast Track Welding are also great options to quickly gain credentials needed within our local are.

Free academic and career readiness classes are also offered for adults to brush up on academic skills through Aspire.  Opportunities include: Basic Academic Remediation for specific content areas (you may be eligible for this review even if you have a HS diploma), GED or High School Equivalency prep, Adult Diploma Program for individuals 20 or older, Customer Service Representative Credential Course, Certified Manufacturing Associate Course,  and coming soon an IT Fundamentals Course.

Customized training, apprenticeship classes and assessments are designed to meet the needs of our strong business and industry partners in Wayne and Holmes County.  We welcome industry leaders to attend the open house to see our labs and explore how we can help you find solutions to your workforce needs.
