Wayne County Schools Career Center (WCSCC) received funding to assist students with financial burdens the COVID-19 pandemic may have caused. The emergency funds are part of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) signed by President Biden on March 11, 2021.
An eligible student to apply for the HEERF III grant must be enrolled in an eligible institution on or after March 13, 2020 and show exceptional need. According to the regulations that accompany the HEERF III funds, it is up to each school to determine how to define what exceptional need is.
WCSCC has determined that for eligible students, they could receive the equivalent of their books/supplies cost for the program of enrollment. In some cases, this could be up to $4,200.
