Superintendent

Welcome to a new school year!

WCSCC renovations cruised along at a great clip this summer. Contractors, Career Center staff, and our own student workers worked diligently while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and high quality standards. They did everything in their power to ensure the opening of school, on schedule. One more year of renovations is needed to finish two more wings of labs and classrooms.

In these challenging economic times, the Career Center fulfills an essential role as it prepares high school and adult education students with high technical and academic skills for successful careers in today's competitive, global market. The Career Center each year serves approximately 850 high school students in 29 programs and 3,500 adults in 11 full-time career programs and many short-term classes to upgrade their skills, or learn career and technical skills to embark on new careers.

Once again, last year, the WCSCC was ranked in the top 10 in Ohio among 49 centers on a composite score of 14 criteria of high performance standards. WCSCC received national recognition from over 1,000 schools in High Schools That Work (HSTW) for extra help through Guidance and Advancement. This recognition was based on the results of student surveys and an outside review team from HSTW.

The staff, administrators, and the Board of Education of the WCSCC should be commended on our rich history of excellence in education, partner collaboration, and success in career preparation for adults and high school students of Wayne County. We all add to the economic stability of Wayne County by educating future workers and community leaders.

We look forward to another year of student success, and appreciate the support of our community!

Thank you,
Kip Crain, PhD, Superintendent
