Seven Wayne County Schools Career Center junior Early Childhood Education and Care students recently competed at the Ohio Educators Rising state conference at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus. Four students advanced to nationals in Phoenix, Az. on June 23-26. The Early Childhood junior class, formerly members of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, recently joined Educators Rising, a new career-tech student organization.
Qualifying for nationals were the team of Adriana H. of Waynedale, Adrianna B. of Orrville and Jenny of Chippewa, who won first place for their team project which involved researching and developing a presentation on learning challenges relating to speech. Also heading to nationals will be Sarah of Wooster, who competed in public speaking with a speech about increasing diversity in the education profession.
The team of Allison of Orrville and Taylor of Triway were in the children’s literature contest, where they wrote and illustrated a children’s book.
Mikayla of Chippewa gave a speech on teachers who impacted her life in a competition called Educators Rising.
Haley Yannuzzo of Chippewa and Brook Lengacher of Norwayne were voting delegates.
