Sophomore visitors try their hand at CPR in Patient Care Technologies

Sophomores from all 10 Wayne County public high schools and most private schools throughout the county are hearing presentations this month about career and technical education in Wayne County, by Wayne County Schools Career Center representatives and student ambassadors. Sophomores will soon have the chance to experience these opportunities firsthand during Sophomore Visitation Days, held November 20–25. During their visit, students can explore several different career-technical programs of their choice, meet instructors, connect with current students, and enjoy lunch on campus. Including the NEW Fire/EMT program in partnership with the Wayne County Regional Training Facility.

Students who may not have heard the presentations, and want to visit the Career Center, may contact their own school counselor. Private school and home-schooled students are also welcome to schedule a visit by calling the Career Center’s Student Support Office at 330-669-7020. Students or parents can also view the Career Center’s high school brochure at wcscc.edu, which lists the 27 career and technical programs available to high school juniors and seniors.

Qualifying Career Center students may also take College Credit Plus courses in English, math, social studies, Effective Speaking and in certain trade programs. In addition, the career center has agreements with many colleges and universities to offer potential college credit or credit banking for trade courses taken at the Career Center.

Extra help is available at the Career Center for students who need assistance with their academics, career-tech program studies, or credit recovery for graduation.

For more information, visit wcscc.edu or call the Career Center at 330-669-7000.
