Practical Nursing student Cheyenne Friend, of Northwestern, earned a Gold Medal in Practical Nursing at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference, held June 1–6 in Atlanta, Georgia.
SkillsUSA Nationals brings together the nation's top career and technical education students to compete in skilled trades, technical, and leadership events. Cheyenne's first place finish in Practical Nursing demonstrates her exceptional knowledge, technical skills, and commitment to excellence in healthcare.
Adding to her remarkable achievement, Cheyenne competed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) after successfully passing her NCLEX-PN examination just four days before departing for Atlanta. Her ability to balance preparation for both her licensure exam and a national competition highlights her dedication, determination, and professionalism.
In addition to competing, Cheyenne and her advisors had the opportunity to explore Atlanta and visit several of the city's most popular attractions, including the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola.
Cheyenne's success reflects the high-quality career and technical education opportunities available at the Wayne County Schools Career Center and serves as an inspiration to future students pursuing careers in healthcare.
Congratulations to Cheyenne Friend on representing WCSCC with excellence and bringing home a national championship in Practical Nursing!
