National Honor Society Marie Chenevey Chapter Inducts New Members at Annual Ceremony

The Wayne County Schools Career Center (WCSCC) celebrated academic excellence and outstanding character on April 16, 2026, as the Marie Chenevey Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) held its annual induction ceremony. The event, which began at 5:30 p.m., recognized 45 students across a wide range of career and technical education programs.

Principal Matthew Brown welcomed attendees, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Historian Adisen Weirick. NHS Advisor Mrs. Jennifer Majka recognized the chapter’s Faculty Council consisting of Mrs. Jenny Baechle, Mrs. Kimberly Huffman, Mrs. Helena Ritchey, Mrs. Amanda Seenes, and Ms. Jenny Smilan for their ongoing support of the chapter.

The ceremony featured student officers presenting the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, presented by President Cheyenne Friend; Service, presented by Vice President Lexie Davis; Leadership, presented by Secretary Amara Hendrix; and Character, presented by Treasurer Danielle Hendrix. Awards were presented by Mrs. Majka, the NHS Faculty Council, Superintendent Ms. Lyn Moomaw, Principal Brown, and Mrs. Amy Tietz.

The NHS Pledge was administered by Parliamentarian Abigail Polen, followed by closing remarks from Mrs. Majka. The WCSCC Hospitality Program, under the direction of Kathy Hanna, provided refreshments for the reception.
